My most favorite Supplements to conquer Hashimoto

The following supplements have truly helped me with my well-being and to regenerate my vitality. I can’t tell whether there’s a direct connection between putting my Hashimoto into remission and these supplements, but they have certainly improved my well-being, sometimes immediately. Meaning: I have been seeing and feeling a correlation that leads me to continue taking the supplement.

My blood levels have improved, too. Especially iron (ferritin) and my thyroid hormones. (Not taking L-thyroxine at this point and never did.)

I truly own and use these supplements on a regular basis (see pictures).

TRS Detox – I don’t use this supplement very often. Once a year for a duration of 3 months. This is my cleansing period. I don’t consume and coffee, alcohol, wheat, soy and very little sugar during this time, either. What TRS Detox did for me the first time I took it (on the very first day) was absolutely erasing the brainfog I had been feeling for 2 years prior. I had always been feeling sick and TRS Detox simply erased this. If this is placebo, I’m totally fine with it.

When I first started taking TRS Detox, I had no expectations. I tried TRS Detox because I had heard about it from someone on YouTube and I found her credible, so I had to try it. I didn’t get rid of my Hashimoto, but the most terrible side effect of always feeling sick and fogged up was just GONE. I can’t promise you whether TRS Detox can do anything for you – but this has been my experience. It’s not the cheapest substance, so I only buy 3 bottles once a year, but I’ve never regretted it.

Multi-Vitamin Elite by Thorne Research – This is the best multi-vitamin I’ve ever found. The B-vitamins aren’t toxic for me and there’s just enough iodine. The vitamins are spread out throughout the day (6 capsules). The PM capsules with magnolia extract and amur-tree bark extract help me sleep better. These vitamins increase my overall well-being. I simply feel much better and balanced when I take them, that’s why I keep taking them. I’ll never buy or take any cheap multi-vitamin again because they often contain cheap B-vitamins that are toxic to me. Being a long-term vegan with an auto-immune problem, I must pay attention to high quality B-vitamins. It pays off.

MegaSporeBiotic

Black Cumin (Seed) Oil

Myo-Inositol

Iron bisglycinate (with rose hip extract) – Being a long-term vegan (since 2007) I never had a B-12 problem, not with my Holo-TC (B-12 storage) level, either, but I did have an iron deficiency / low ferritin level. Thanks to my current iron supplement I once doubled my ferritin level within one month. Sounds great, right? That’s why I keep taking it.

Always feeling tired, even if you drink huge amounts of coffee, is just a nonsensical way to live. Besides, I think it’s very bad for my adrenals and immune system.

I am still working on a higher ferritin level, aiming for 100 ng/mL or 150 ng/mL, because Dr. Christianson says so – that’s the level to aim for, if you want good thyroid function. Makes sense to me because I feel a lot more balanced and have less menstrual flow whenenever I don’t „forget“ taking my iron.

Last time I checked I was in the 40s ng/mL range – so there’s room for improvement. I take 250 mg of iron every other day. That seems like a lot, but the body doesn’t absorb it very well. Why every other day? There’s an enzyme in your body that helps you absorb iron and it recharges every 18 hours or so. So it takes time to recharge, like a cell-phone. That’s why you can’t just dump a lot of iron into your system at once. It’s the most effective to do it every 18-24 hours. The irritating thing about iron is that I need to take it in an isolated time period – not too much foor prior to or after taking my iron, at least 1.5 hours of nothingness. Iron is not a good team player, so no other supplements during that time, either. That’s why I often take iron before going to bed – or I „forget“ taking it. (I actually don’t forget, sometimes I just don’t feel like swallowing so many tablets. But I feel better, physically, if I don’t „forget“.)

My doctor doesn’t want to give me an iron infusion (intravenously) as she made the experience that people lost consciousness during or after the infusion. So that’s why I’m taking so many tablets. (Yuck, but it works.) It’s basically impossible to increase your iron level without supplementation or an infusion once you have a deficiency – even eating lots of corpses would be very hard and not effective. So for me, tablets are the best option. Talk about this with your doctor. Maybe an iron infusion is an option for you, but I can’t give you any advice concerning this; I have no experience with an iron infusion as a patient and I’m not a doctor. (Personally, I’d prefer an infusion every few months over taking tablets all the time.)
